Governor Wike Describes As Useless The Strike Action By JUSUN/NBA, Insist The State Has Been Implementing Judiciary Autonomy

Lawyers in Rivers State on Monday joined the striking JUSUN WORKER Embark on a peaceful  Protest to Demand for  financial autonomy for Judiciary
The Lawyers who marched from the Rivers State high courts to government house gate was received by the Governor of Rivers state Chief barrister Nyesom Wike. The Lawyers under the auspices of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Port Harcourt, in solidarity with striking members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
The lawyers, during the protest, accused the Rivers State Governor of denying the Judiciary the much needed autonomy.
The NBA publicity Secretary, Precious Dike said: “You cannot claim to have implemented the Judicial financial autonomy in Rivers State yet you are still the one buying cars and building houses for the Judges and Magistrates.
“Start implementing financial Autonomy as approved by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI so that Members of the Judiciary Staff Union Workers will call off their strike”.
In Response The Governor Nyesom Wike  said -I have implemented autonomy for Judiciary in Rivers State, clarifying further he told the protesting lawyers, to jettison the strike and reopen the courts.
He claimed that the state government have being implementing the Financial Autonomy and did not see any reason why the members of the JUSUN and NBA will embark on a strike.

WIKE slammed the NBA for not protesting when the previous Administration shut down the court for a year insisting that it was wrong for them to politicize everything  while describas useless the protest embarked upon Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria and Nigeria Bar Association in the state.

Governor Wike had earlier insisted that he has been implementing financial autonomy to the judiciary in Rivers State.

He appealed to the striking judiciary staff workers in the state
