Today, Anambra State has grown in leaps and bounds under Governor Willie Obiano’s administration with
tremendous developments in all sectors of the economy.

Today Ndi Anambra rejoices because of his verifiable and laudable signature projects such Awka Stadium, International Conference Center Awka with over 10,000 capacity. The Mother of all the signature projects is the long awaited Airport since the creation of Anambra in 1991. This very laudable project seemed impossible for others previous Governors. Today, Governor Willie Obiano has written his name with a golden pen in anal book of record by becoming the Governor that built a magnificent and a historic Anambra International Cargo/Passenger Airport situated At Umueri. As a matter of fact, it is the fifth Airport built by a State Government in Nigeria.

This is the core reason why Ndi Anambra are clamouring for Professor Soludo to become the Governor of Anambra State when Governor Willie Obiano’s tenure expires on March 17th, 2022. Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s scorecards and antecedents as former CBN Governor speaks volumes.

It is on record that before his emergence as the CBN Governor, the banking industry in the country was in near comatose.

He came on board and introduced recapitalization policy to save commercial banks in Nigeria from liquidation. The policy mandated commercial banks to raise the minimum capital requirement from a paid-up capital of N2 billion to shareholders’ funds of N25 billion. His viable economic policy pruned down the number of commercial banks in the country from 89 to 25 banks. Some of the commercial banks merged together to meet up within the 18 months timeline of Professor Soludo’s recapitalization policy.

The consolidation programme which was regarded as “Soludo’s Banking Revolution” provided stability in the banking sector. Today in Nigeria, our commercial banks ranks among the best in world which attracts foreign investors. The economic policy quenched the fear of distressed banks experienced by Nigerians and foreign investors as well.

Ndi Anambra cannot afford to go back to old analog way of governance. Rather a sound economist like Professor Chukwuma Soludo who has lived in Ethiopia, UK, and the USA and has traveled to 45 other countries as a consultant to 20 international organizations including the World Bank, IMF, European Union, AFDB, USAID, UK-DFID, UNDP, UNCTAD should be given the opportunity to continue from Governor Willie Obiano. He will surely consolidate on his signature projects and legacies for a better, prosperous Anambra State.
