Traffic Jam, Blocked Roads, Ongoing Construction Fuels Tuesday Mad Rush To Beat Port Harcourt 7Pm Curfew
Port Harcourt Residents Yesterday jostle hard to meet the deadline 7PM curfew, a lot of were stranded, as buses, taxies trapped in Gridlock, Jams for hours without making any appreciable distance from point of take off.
Those who got home as late as 9pm. 10 pm narrated that other than where they met the lock jam traffic no Security operative harass them till they got home, some posting pictures of the traffic opined that This curfew will make people rush to their deaths just because of this 7PM, Everybody is in a hurry.
Another issues causing the gridlock is that Police barricades major roads in Port Harcourt over fear of attack by gunmen. Police blocking one lane at every police station out of fear Throughout the day has been causing residents travelling stress, Commercial motorist now charge double fare to meet up with fuel burnt while in traffic, Road users were seen trekking long distance just to beat some of the traffic and those who have stood for hours prefer to trek to another mile just to get home motorists.
Another issue is the ongoing construction of flyovers over the major roads in Port Harcourt forcing Motorist to seek alternative inner routes with heavy human traffic and narrow roads.
But in the end no one was really enforcing the curfew, because people on my street when I strolled out at around 8:30pm to get drugs and snacks no security personnel was seen anywhere enforcing the curfew, rather they were all at their stations secure their stations while others are busy rushing when one is pursing them
Our Advice is that Don’t allow this curfew to make people rush to their deaths just because this there is no road anywhere, what magic do you want the people to do.
Gov wike this thing no go work?!!!1
