The Acting Inspector General of Police; Mr Alkali Usman has charged newly inaugurated Operation Restore Peace team in the south south zone to flush out criminal elements in the region.
Mr Usman who gave the charge at the flag off of the operation in Port Harcourt , told men and Officers of the team to take the war to the hideout of the criminals . ”He said don’t wait for them in the police formation, They have a place they also sleep, go and look for them, the way they are looking for you, don’t wait in the police station for them to come and throw patrol bomb and run away, go after them and fish them out”
Speaking at the event, the acting inspector general of police Mr Alkali Usman said the recent rise of insecurity in the south south and southeast was alarming and explained that the operation will also be replicated in other parts of the country.
Mr Usman noted that the force would collaborate with other sisters agencies to ensure they tackle the security challenges facing the nation
He stressed that the force will also synergize with traditional leaders and communities heads to ensure effective community policing.
In an address, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Planning and Research South south zone, Moses Jitoboh noted that in recent times the south south zone and south East have witnessed attacks on security agencies and innocent Nigerians.
Moses Jitoboh promised that the operation will leave no stone unturned as the force would employ all measure to fight terrorism and other criminal activities in the region
On his part, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike represented by his deputy, Dr Mrs. Ipalibo Harry said the state government will continue to support security agencies to protect lives and property in the state.
Governor Wike appreciated the acting inspector general of police for being proactive in the fight against crime and criminality.
The event was attended by AIGs , Commissioners of police , Traditional Rulers, civil societies Organization, Journalist among others.
