A Lecturer of Mass Communication, Renaissance University Enugu State, Dr Maxwell Ngene has called on journalists in Nigeria to come together to begin to see how they can own and manage Media outfits.

Dr Ngene who stated this in his lecture, Maintaining the peace in turbulent times; the role of the media in security and national unity, at the 3rd National Conference of the Nigeria union of journalists, said journalist should no longer be afraid and move towards achieving that goal stressing that the audience believes in news credibility and acceptance.

According to him journalist in Nigeria have continued to work in an environment where they are not properly rewarded

On his part, Director, Law Centre Richard Akinola who spoke on Media and National Security said there is no way a government can effectively cow the press because the Nigerian Press has been patriotic and quite resilient.
