Man Allegedly Beaten Into Coma By Police Officers Attached To A VIP In Rivers State Just Regained Consciousness

One Mr Efe  Derek, a resident of  road 5,Agip Estate, Mile 4,Port Harcourt, Rivers State has accused Police Officers attached to one VIP, Mpaka LongJohn the Chief Executive Officer of MLJ night club,/Lounge of physically assaulting and removing his teeth for merely demanding that the road 5 gate in Agip Estate which is an access to residents of the area should be opened and not be locked permanently. Here Police Officers attached to one Very Important Personnel (VIP) in the State ordered his Police Officers to beat up one Derek Efe who stays in his neighborhood for no known offence and on the process the victim lost two of his teeth’s.No description available.

Mr Derek who spoke to our correspondent on his hospital bed said on Tuesday at about 3:50pm he and some residents went to the access  gate of road 5 and demanded that the gate should be opened as they were tired of taking alternative routes instead of the access gate to their residents as approved by the Rivers State Government.
Mr Derek disclosed that the moment they got to the gate, the Police Officers attached to Mpaka LongJohn allegedly started shooting as they scampered for safety while the Police Officers held him(Derek)

Mr Derek alleged that the Police Officers bounced on him and used the butt of their guns to hit him on some parts of his body and took him to the Police station along Agip road where one of the Police Officers the butt of the gun to hit him on his mouth resulting to loss of his two teeth and he went into coma.
Mr Derek further explained that he lost consciousness and later found himself in the hospital where he is gradually regaining  consciousness.
Mr Derek alleged that Mr LongJohn who supervised the assault on him by Police Officers attached to  him(LongJohn) has continually boasted that neither the Governor of the state Nyesom Wike nor the Commissioner of Polices can order him to open the access gate for residents.
He called on the Rivers State Government and human rights community to come to his aid.
In the meantime, a human rights advocacy group, Centre for Basic Rights and Accountability Campaign has called for unbiased and thorough investigation into incident.
National Coordinator of the group, Prince Wiro while reacting to the incident, said the incident should be diligently investigated and anybody found culpable should be brought to book  as nobody is above the the law

Our correspondent who visited the hospital reports that two upper tooth of Mr Derek has been removed and the family of Derek in conjunction other residents of the estate  have  reported the matter to the Police Division at Agip road Mile 4,Port Harcourt
