Who Pulled The Triger? Tension In Eleme LGA After Youth Elections Turns Bloody, 1 Killed

The Rivers State police command has debunked rumors making round that its officer shut one Victor Amasi during the Onne youth election in Eleme local government area.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer DSP Grace  Iringe-Koko who dismissed the rumors  said while the command was yet to get report about any dead, the police never shut anyone in Onne during the election.

Meanwhile, Tension  has mounted the Onne Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State following the alleged killing of a youth, Victor  Amasi by a police personnel deployed to ensure peaceful youth election in the area.
We  gathered that Onne Youth Council had scheduled to hold election but on the arrival of the delegates, electoral committee allegedly suspended the process following  directives from the Eleme Council Authority.
An indigene of the community who did not want his name mentioned confirmed the incident to our Correspondent ,saying the suspension of the election resulted to rowdy situation as some delegates matched to the traditional leaders in protest over the suspension of the election between David  Osarobe , Tobiah Silas-Tete  and Samuel Owinkpe .
He claimed that the traditional leaders and other stakeholders after careful consideration of the situation and pressure by some youths and women in the area, declared Sarobe winner which resulted to jubilation, leading to shootings by security operatives.
The man said the victim, Victor Amasi was hit by a stray bullet and he died when he was being taken to hospital.
