Former commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources in Rivers State, Shedrack Chukwu-Ogbogu has joined in condoling the family of victims who died at the weekend fire explosion between Imo and Rivers State
The former commissioner who is also the managing director of Traceguard Security in Omoku, ONELGA expressed shock over the death of more than 50 persons, resulting from explosion in an illegal oil refining site at Abacheke, Egbema in IMO state
Shedrack Chukwu-Ogbogu in statement commiserates with the families of the victims over the unfortunate but avoidable incident.
He explained that the incident is avoidable in the sense that if the sponsors and victims had heeded the warnings of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the Management of Traceguard Security Company and that of the Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, Mr. Vincent Job and Nigerian Agip Oil Company and other critical stakeholders, the incident would not have happened.
The statement praised the efforts of the Rivers State Government, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government and NAOC in the fight against artisanal refining and cautioned against such unwholesome activities.
Shedrack Chukwu-Ogbogu in the statement however appealed to investors to channel their investments to productive ventures rather than sponsoring illegal minings – using innocent and promising children for such illicit and destructive concerns.
The statement, while condoling the government and people of both IMO and Rivers States, enjoined security agencies to unravel the remote cause of the ugly incident to bring to end illegalities in the society.
