Abia State Governor Leads A Delegation Of Labor party Members To Submit Supreme Court CTC To INEC

Governor of Abia state, Alex Otti has led a delegation of the Labour Party (LP) to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja to discuss key developments within the party especially the recent Supreme Court judgement.

According to a statement shared on Wednesday via X by the commission, it said the delegation was received by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s acting chairman, and other national commissioners.

During the visit, Governor Otti formally presented a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the recent supreme court judgment concerning the party’s leadership to the commission.

recall that on Friday the supreme court set aside the judgment of the court of appeal in Abuja which recognised Julius Abure as the national chairman of the party.

In its verdict, a five-member panel of the apex court unanimously held that the appellate court lacked the jurisdiction to have affirmed Abure as chairman of the LP, since the substance of the case was about the party’s leadership.

The Abia governor said the meeting was aimed at fostering clarity, mutual understanding, and institutional alignment regarding the LP’s current structure.

“Both parties engaged in discussions centered on enhancing collaboration and reinforcing democratic values,” the statement reads.

“Mr. Olumekun reaffirmed the Commission’s unwavering commitment to neutrality, transparency, and the rule of law in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.”
