Anambra CP Assures Residents, Traders of Tight Security As Activities Resume Monday

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has assured residents that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to prevent any breach of peace as business and social activities resume across the state.

Orutugu gave the assurance during an emergency closed-door security meeting with Area Commanders and Tactical Commanders at the State Police Headquarters in Awka.

At the meeting, the police chief directed the immediate intensification of intelligence-driven patrols, enhanced surveillance, and proactive policing operations aimed at forestalling threats to lives and property.

He urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding and security-conscious while going about their lawful activities, stressing the command’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security concerns.

The commissioner also cautioned the public against spreading or relying on unverified information on social media, advising them instead to report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated the commissioner’s assurance that the command remains fully committed to maintaining peace, ensuring public safety, and protecting all residents and visitors in the state.
