Anambra Police Arrest Suspected Ritualist With Human Breast, Rescued Kidnapped Driver, Recover Stolen Truck with Goods

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal activities, including the arrest of a suspect found with a woman’s breast, the rescue of a kidnapped driver, and the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle.

In a chilling incident that stunned residents, the Joint Security Team comprising Police operatives attached to the Awada Police Station and Anambra Vigilante operatives, while on patrol along Jude Onyekwere Street, Awada, Obosi, on Saturday, 6th July 2025 at about 3:30 pm, arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Samuel Eze, found in possession of a human breast believed to belong to a woman. The severed body part was recovered at the scene and deposited in the morgue for preservation while the suspect is undergoing interrogation as part of ongoing investigations ahead of prosecution.

In a separate operation, officers of the Rapid Response Squad, acting on credible intelligence, rescued a kidnapped driver on Friday, 4th July 2025, at about 12:45 pm. The driver, who was tied and abandoned in the bush by the suspects, was rescued unhurt. The police also recovered a truck loaded with custard powder valued at N9.5 million, which had been diverted by the kidnappers. Three suspects identified as Udegenyi Ugochukwu, 38; Anayochukwu Okonkwo, 47; and Good Odigili, 47, were arrested in connection with the crime. During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they had abducted the driver while he was en route to deliver the goods to a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State, and diverted the truck to Enugwu Ukwu.

In another development, operatives from Obosi Division, while on patrol along Okpuno-Umuota Village, Obosi, at about 4:30 pm on Saturday, 5th July 2025, recovered a suspected stolen and abandoned custom-colour Toyota Sienna with registration number 736 JP. The vehicle had an inscription on its body reading “Forum of Accountants Delta State.” The command has called on anyone or any group searching for such a vehicle to come forward with valid proof of ownership for verification and possible collection.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed these developments in a statement issued from the Command Headquarters in Awka, reassured residents that the Anambra State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property. He noted that the joint security surveillance and patrols comprising the Police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Service, DSS, and Anambra Vigilante operatives would continue across the state to sustain the gains recorded in the fight against crime.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information that can aid in the prevention and detection of crime in Anambra State.
