Anambra Police Command says it has arrested two notorious members of dreaded unknown responsible for various heinous crimes in Anambra state are currently cooling their feets in custody.
Their arrest today, August 22, 2024, follows an investigation into a kidnapping incident reported to the Police in Aguata last year.
A statement by the spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu said the duo were arrested by a Joint Security Operatives, including Military, Civil Defence, and other security forces following credible intelligence.
Ikenga added that “these individuals (names withheld) were involved in kidnapping, car snatching, and armed robbery in the areas of Uga, Ekwulobia, Umuchu, Nkpologu, Ezinifite, and Aguata.
“One suspect has bullet wounds on his leg, while the other, posing as a fake pastor, was preparing criminal charms for the gang. Both have confessed to their crimes and are currently assisting the Police in apprehending other gang members. They have also provided information about the location of the shrine where they prepare the charms and some vehicles they have stolen.
“The Commissioner of Police, *CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has assured Ndi Anambra that the Command is working tirelessly on all reported cases, particularly incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery. The trust placed in us to protect lives and property is not taken for granted.”
