Anambra Police Storms Kidnappers Den In Nnobi, Rescue Victim, Arrest 3 Suspect

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim, arrested three suspected kidnappers, and recovered a locally made pistol alongside ₦469,000 ransom during a coordinated security operation in Nnobi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The operation, which took place on the evening of April 18, 2026, was carried out by officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, Nnobi.

According to a statement issued on Friday, April 24, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the joint security team acted on credible intelligence and stormed a bush located at Umuezeala Awuda Village, Nnobi, where the suspects were hiding.

Ikenga said the operatives successfully rescued the abducted victim and arrested three armed suspects identified as Chidalu Obi, 25; Chichebem Ojenigbo, 26; and Chikannechukwu Eze, 20.

He added that the team also recovered one locally made Beretta pistol and the sum of Four Hundred and Sixty-Nine Thousand Naira (₦469,000), believed to be ransom collected from the victim’s family.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects lured the victim, who works as an electrician, under the guise of offering him a job.

“Upon arrival at the agreed location, the victim was forcefully blindfolded at gunpoint and taken to the bush at Umuezeala Awuda, where he was held captive,” Ikenga stated.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspects later confessed to the crime and admitted to collecting the ransom through a SportyBet account belonging to one of them, Chidalu Obi.
