The leadership of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Rivers is calling on all Retirees from the State civil service to come out en-mass for the scheduled verification exercise called by the state sole Administrator Ibok Ete Ibas starting from Thursday 14th August 2025. The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Dr Joseph Agbo in an interview with our correspondent said the verification exercise is in the interest of Pensioners to enable them enjoy the new minimum pension increases that was approved by the sole Administrator.
The secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Rivers State Dr Joseph Agbo also berated those who are calling for a boycott of the exercise as political tools for their selfish interest.
He said those who are calling on pensioners to boycott the Re-verification exercise does not mean well for the retirees who have been stagnated for over 20 years and have never received any dim added to their monthly pension allowance.
Our correspondent reports the exercise will last for 5 days as scheduled by the office of the head of service
