A ward Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has allegedly been assaulted by party members during a dispute over money sharing.
A viral video circulating on social media captured the moment the APC Ward 5 Chairman in Enugu South was allegedly beaten by some members of the party.
The footage, which was shared online by social media influencer Chucks Eric, has since generated reactions from political observers and residents of the state.
According to information accompanying the video, the incident occurred shortly after a party meeting had ended. The chairman was said to have been preparing to distribute money to members when chaos suddenly broke out.
Sources alleged that the party’s youth leader, assistant organising secretary, and some other individuals attacked the chairman during the disagreement.
In the video, several persons were seen struggling and exchanging blows as onlookers shouted in the background. The exact cause of the altercation, however, remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Neither the Enugu State chapter of the APC nor the police authorities had officially reacted to the incident at the time this report was filed.
