BREAKIN: JAMB Admits System Errors, Orders Re-Sit for Affected 2025 UTME Candidates

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has publicly accepted responsibility for the flaws that marred the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in a stunning admission that has sent shockwaves across the country received with mixed feelings

Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, a visibly emotional Oloyede confessed that the board failed to deliver a flawless examination process despite extensive preparations. “As the Registrar of JAMB, I hold myself personally responsible, especially for the negligence of the service provider,” he declared.

The JAMB boss acknowledged that all necessary measures were taken ahead of the exams, but the system still faltered. “We set all the machineries in order. Regardless, there were still errors,” Oloyede admitted, fighting back tears.

The scandal has particularly affected candidates in examination centres across Lagos and the South East, where technical glitches and disruptions marred the process. In response, Oloyede announced that those affected will be required to retake their examinations.

This marks one of the most significant self-indictments in the history of JAMB, raising concerns about accountability, reliability, and the integrity of one of Nigeria’s most important examinations.

The board is yet to announce the exact date for the rescheduled exams, but public pressure is mounting for a comprehensive investigation and overhaul of the UTME administration process.
