A Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, on Monday dissolved a 45-year-old marriage between Alhaji Ilani and Halima Ilani over alleged infidelity.
The judge, Anas Khalifa, confirmed the one pronouncement of divorce made by the defendant after efforts to settle out of court proved abortive.Earlier, the complainant prayed court to dissolve her union with Mr Ilani, saying he accused her of cheating in the presence of their children.
She said the complainant had not been exercising his duty as a husband for 20 years, a situation she had to endure for the sake of their children.
“I am now old, and I don’t have energy for these kinds of things; what pains me the most is him suspecting me of cheating,” she said.
“I am no longer interested in this marriage.”
