The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a couple and a woman over alleged illegal possession of a firearm.
Spokesman of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in an X post on Tuesday.
He said police operatives accosted two women during a stop and search operation in Ipaja area of the state, during which the semi-automatic pistol was found on one of them.
Hundeyin said the suspect found with the pistol confessed that it belonged to her husband, who was promptly tracked down and arrested.
He said, “After a cursory and non-intrusive look at the contents of their bags, this semi-automatic pistol was found in their possession by police officers of Ipaja Division.
“One of the ladies led the police to the owner of the firearm – her husband.
“Case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
“One less illegal firearm in circulation.
