Anambra State Governor Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has congratulated the outgoing State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye on his retirement from the force after 35 years in service and 10 months in charge of Anambra State police command.
CP Adeoye was appointed the state’s commissioner of police on mid 2023, replacing Echeng Echeng, who on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General Of Police, was redeployed to Zone 9, Umuahia.
Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo in his speech through his Deputy Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim at the Pull-Out Parade at Ekwueme Square in Awka, congratulated the retired CP and his families for their services and sacrifices to Ndi Anambra .
Soludo commended and celebrated the retired officer for what he described as “meritorious services to the state and the fatherland”, adding that if it was possible, the state will retain him.
Dr. Ibezim noted that CP Adeoye contributed extensively to Soludo’s vision of “liveable, smart and secure Anambra State” through his policing style and intelligence.
“Your pullout from service today is coming at a time your wealth of experiences which contributed immensely in Ndi Anambra sleeping with their two eyes closed are highly needed”
The outgoing Anambra State Police Commissioner Mr Aderemi Adeoye has been adopted as a citizen of the state and conferred with two chieftaincy titles by Gov Charles Soludo. Also a road has been named after the CP for his excellent performance in crime fighting in the state.
Making this pronouncement at the Pulling Out Parade of the Commissioner, the Anambra state Deputy Governor Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim noted that Adeoye”s service to Anambra state has been superlative and result oriented.“Adeoye came to Anambra state at a time a great section of our state were under the strong hold of the unknown gunmen and when he commenced operations along with sister security organizations and he gave the criminals a good run for their money”
“The great peace and harmony that we enjoy today in Anambra state is as a result of the proactive and combatant actions of the Command under the watchful eyes of Commissioner Adeoye”“Today we have named a street after him and also two chieftaincy titles as a mark of gratitude for what he did in Anambra state and above all he is now a citizen of Anambra state and would be accorded all the entitlements rights and privileges of a citizen of Anambra state” he said.
Speaking earlier before the official pulling out parade the Commissioner who would officially retire on May 1st this year expressed gratitude to God for spearing his life throughout his carrier as a Policeman.“I recognize the grace and mercy of God all through for spearing my life until this day”
“I have been through militancy in the Niger Delta, where I spent five years fighting militants. I have also been at work against Boko Haram where I spent two and half years first as Sector Commander with the Military Joint Task Force, and I have been through IPOB insurgency as Deputy Commissioner of Police and Coordinator Police Mobile Force for five years for the South East states and Deputy Commissioner of Police for Anambra state, and finally Commissioner of Police for Anambra state where I am retiring”
“It is to the glory of God that despite all these encounters with face to face exchange of fire and bombs I did not have any scar on me and I give God the glory”
Continuing he said “I want to thank Nigeria and the Nigerian Police Force for giving me the opportunity to serve this country and I thank Nigeria not just for the opportunity but for investing in me “
“I have been privileged in the course of my carrier to receive training at home and abroad in the Police Staff College Jos , Kofi Annan Training Center in Ghana”
“Center of Excellence in Police Training in England, Institute of Management Galilee Israel , Post Graduate School California to mention but a few and I have the privilege of serving abroad with the United Nations in Nigeria 2005 to 2006 , African Union Commission Headquarters Addis Ababa Ethiopia 2015 to 2019 , Liberia 2005 to 2006 Consultant to North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO in Policy Concept as well as studied Financial Technology in the University of Cape Town South Africa.
Adeoye recalled that he came to Anambra earlier when the state was created in 1991 and was transferred out of the state in the year 2001 adding that while in Anambra state he served seven Police Commissioners all of whom recorded tremendous successes.
