Dangote Refinery Deploys 4,000 CNG-Powered Tankers, To Begin Nationwide Supply of Petrol, Diesel, Plus Free Logistic

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a nationwide fuel distribution initiative that will begin on August 15, 2025, aiming to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape through expanded accessibility and affordability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel.

The refinery disclosed that it will supply PMS and diesel to petrol marketers, dealers, manufacturers, telecom firms, aviation companies, and other major fuel consumers across the country, offering free logistics support as part of the plan to optimise distribution and drive down operational costs. To facilitate this, Dangote Refinery has procured 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers and is building CNG stations—known as daughter booster stations—backed by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers to ensure seamless nationwide delivery.

“This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability, and supporting Nigeria’s economic development,” the refinery stated.
“It affirms our dedication to improving the availability and affordability of fuel, in support of broader efforts to strengthen the economy and improve the well-being of all Nigerians.”

Under the scheme, all petrol stations purchasing PMS and diesel from the Dangote Refinery will benefit from the free transportation offer. Key sectors such as manufacturing, telecommunications, aviation, and others are also expected to gain significantly from the initiative through lower fuel prices, which will in turn reduce production costs and inflation, and boost economic growth.

The refinery further revealed the introduction of a credit facility for bulk buyers. According to the statement, customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres can access an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, provided they present a bank guarantee.

“This pioneering effort marks a major milestone in our vision to revolutionise Nigeria’s energy sector. Dangote Refinery is dedicated to ensuring that no place is left behind,” it said.
“Our goal is to provide equitable access to affordable fuel for all Nigerians, regardless of location, making energy more accessible and sustainable for everyone, wherever they may be.”

Beyond improving access, the initiative is expected to revive dormant fuel stations, generate employment, stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), boost government revenue, and enhance fuel access in rural and underserved communities. It is also projected to strengthen investor confidence in the downstream petroleum sector.

“This initiative is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflecting our shared commitment to economic progress, stability, and inclusive development,” the statement continued.
“We sincerely thank the Federal Government for its continued support, especially through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilise fuel supply amid global price volatility.”

Dangote Refinery called on marketers, dealers, manufacturers, telecoms, and other stakeholders to participate in the programme. The registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process will run from June 16 to August 15, over a 60-day period.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery remains a proud partner in this national journey—a truly Nigerian company of global standards, dedicated to the well-being of all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
