Clinton Okedi a member of Diobu Vigilante in Mile 3 Diobu, Porthacourt has raised alarm over alleged attempt by Charles Ogire, Diobu Vigilante Public Relations Officer to shoot him (Clinton Okedi) dead over his refusal to support his(Charles) Political position in the 2023 general election.
Mr Okedi in an interview with Journalists on Thursday in Porthacourt called on the Nigerian Police and Rivers State Government to retrieve the gun Mr Ogire is allegedly using to chase he (Okedi) around.
“My name is Clinton Okedi, I am a member of Diobu Vigilante, I am working under Charles Ogire he is the CSO Umuduru/ Odunze commander Camp 7,PRO Diobu Vigilante .
“Last Year September he gathered all of us that we are going to see Farah Dagogo, I told him I will not follow him .They went and came back, two days later he gathered us again that we should go to Elekahia to go and do voter’s card for one Jennifer who is contesting for House of Representatives, I said I will not follow him. He asked me why I refused following them .I told him that security are not supposed to take sides in Politics .
“I was in mine house February 3,2023 he(Charles Ogire) bounced on my door he brought out gun that I am dodging him. He said I should follow him. As he surrendered me with gun I gave him my hand he put handcuff on me. When I looked no Police followed him, I only saw three boys with him .As I shouted what did I do to you, I ran with the handcuff and entered a plaza from there he carried me to Police station .Before I knew I saw someone who claimed his things got missing, Nkpolu Police Division Mile 3 Diobu looked into the matter and saw that I did nothing, they granted me bail.
“Since that day nobody called me again that I did anything. I continued my work. This morning as I returned from work my younger brother told me that Charles Ogire, the PRO of Diobu Vigilante came again with gun .My younger brother said Charles Ogire thought he is me.
“My brother said he discovered it was not me when he flashed touch. He asked my brother were I am, my brother said I went out that I have not come back from work .
“So I am calling on Rivers State Government and Police to help because he(Charles Ogire) is using gun to look for me .I don’t know who gave him gun .I don’t know who gave him handcuff .
“Even when we got to Police station the first time, the DCO asked him(Charles) who put me handcuff .He Charles could not say anything. Charles removed the handcuff when DCO said they should remove the handcuff. Charles removed it and put in his pocket. It was when I knew it was a private handcuff.
“So I want Rivers State Government to help us retrieve the gun and handcuff from Charles”
Recall that the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon two weeks ago reiterated the ban barring vigilantes from using guns in Rivers State.
