T he Engraced-life foundation has kicked off its yearly 30 days PinkNaija breast cancer awareness campaign as part of efforts to reduce the risk of breast cancer in the country, particularly in the South-South.
The campaign kicked off with the PinkNaija Walk in Yenagoa on the 5th of October, 2024 from Tombia Roundabout to NUJ Center in Azikoro where the foundation conducted free breast screening, blood sugar test and blood pressure checkups.
The walk against breast cancer was joined by Bayelsa Riderz, Bikers in Niger Delta and Rotary Club of Oxbow Lake.
Speaking during the sensitization campaign over the weekend, the founder of Engrcaced-life Foundation, Mrs Ethel OLomu, who is a breast cancer survivor 14-years and counting said the campaign was borne out of her own personal experience to inform the society on the importance of having the right knowledge about breast cancer.
Ethel Olomu stated that the awareness of breast cancer can not be over emphasized as early detection could prevent severe consequences.
Also speaking, the head of medicals at EngrcacedLife Foundation, Dr. Stella Jerry Chukwu, maintained that the sensitization campaign was to unite, educate, and support the public in fighting against breast cancer.
The National Coordinator Engrcaced-life Foundation, Tamunotonye Pamela Daniel, and celebrity red-carpet host and model Tari Youdabagha, called for deliberate collaboration and periodic health check-up in the fight against breast cancer and other diseases.
Engraced life correspondent, Promise Okotoko reports that free breast cancer check-up was conducted for women and men of all ages and provision of medical assistance during the sensitization campaign.
