The gruesome murder of some able-bodied youth from Enugwu-Ukwu and one person from Nri is grave and highly condemnable. He who cannot give life should not take life. We know that something will kill a man, but we need not assist God in the process. These deadly assassins inflicted unwarranted and varying degrees of injuries to other sons of Enugwu-Ukwu including Onyedika Agbakwu (AO Tripple – Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 3 APC Chairman) and Emelie Onyeagba who is my cousin. Agbakwu was shot in the eyes, Emelie was shot in his hand and chest, and Ebuka Nwobu was shot on his lower abdomen.
Eye-witness accounts point towards a land dispute between Isionye, Enugwu-Ukwu, and Nawfia Community. Usually, we see pulling down of fences during land disputes but this new dimension of senseless killings is very worrisome. We are doing our best to provide healthcare to the injured even though the scars will last for a lifetime with possibilities of permanent disabilities. May God heal them speedily – Amen.
As emotions are currently on a roller coaster, I call for restraint and for everyone concerned not to take laws into their hands. I also urge the State Government and Security Agencies to step in immediately and ensure proper investigation that must lead to prosecution and serving of appropriate justice to the perpetrators of this heinous crime against humanity. This once again calls for a review of the security situation in our dear state as all hands must be on deck to end this self-inflicted menace. If you see something, say something. Everyone with useful information should provide such to security agencies to aid investigation as no stone should be left unturned in achieving justice.
May the souls of the departed, including a serving APGA Enugwu Ukwu ward 3 councilor, Hon Ifeanyi Nkwocha (Ozo) and Ekenwofia, find rest with our Maker. Amen
