Criminals managed to steal a black Toyota Hilux belonging to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Nuhu Ribadu, in broad daylight during Friday’s Juma’at prayers in Abuja.

The incident, which has raised concerns about the safety of high-ranking government officials, occurred in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The vehicle, which was parked opposite the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) complex in Area 10, was left unattended by the ONSA official as he attended prayers at a nearby mosque. The theft took place around 1:05 pm, and by the time the official returned from the mosque, the vehicle was gone.
A security source, Zagazola Makama, first broke the news via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, revealing that the theft was reported promptly to the Garki Police Division at around 2:00 pm. Law enforcement responded swiftly, launching an immediate investigation into the matter.

Reacting to the incident, Nigerians expressed shock and disbelief that even the National Security Adviser’s office was not immune to such brazen criminal acts. Many took to social media to voice their concerns over the growing insecurity in the capital, with some questioning the efficacy of security measures in place to protect high-profile individuals and government property.
