The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board has declared her willingness to partner with Media personnel, organisations in promoting activities of the board in sensitizing residents on various health care programme
Executive Secretary, RSPHCMB. Dr Kinikanwor Green, stated this when some members of a non governmental media organization, Media Advocates for Health, PH paid him a Courtesy visit in his office at the Board on Thursday 28th of October 2023
He said “We cannot over-stress the importance of the media. For instance if you’re doing the best thing in the world and people don’t know about it, you’re not making impact. It is the media that helps us to know what happens around us in the world.”.
The ES declared the Board’s willingness to work with the group by supporting its activities saying the media is very important in improving the wellbeing of the people of Rivers State.
Speaking on behalf of Media Advocates for Health, PH, Chairman of the group, Mrs. Jenewari Harry-Utomi, said the courtesy visit is to felicitate with the board on the recent appointment by the RS government of Dr Green as the Executive Secretary (ES) of the State Primary Healthcare Management Board(RSPHCMB) and also to solicit the continuation of the existing synergy between the Board and the media which according to her its of mutual benefit, not only to the two organizations but to the entire state as well.
She enumerated various media activities carried out by the group in providing visibility and amplification to health intervention programs of the Board on Family Planning, Covid-19 vaccination, MNCH week, immunization amongst others.
On his part, Hon Adolfus Orubienimigha, member representing Opobo/Nkoro in the State House of Assembly and Chainman, Committee on Health, reiterated the need for the media to cross check facts in the dissemination of news stories. He commended the media group for its proactiveness, saying the Committee on Health, through the Board will support the good works of the media in all aspects.
