Large sections of the media, particularly in South Africa has been awash with bedroom pictures and videos of South Africa’s African National Congress Speaker, Zanele Sifuba in the last couple of days.
Many South Africans, groups and parties were quick to sympathize with Sifuba and condemned the circulation of her nude images and sex tape, including Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Provincial Secretary Malefane Bosanku Msimanga.
Others expressed disappointment and disgust over the circulation of a clip involving the country’s legislative leader.
The Free State Legislature wasted no time in ordering an investigation into the scandal.
However, a new twist was added to the scandal after a Facebook page in the name of Zanele Sifuba accused Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State of masterminding the leakage of the tape.
While initial reports had suggested the tape was leaked by a young man who reportedly attempted extorting R300 000 from Sifuba, the account fingered the Nigerian for the act. Posting picture of Zanele Sifuba and Douye Diri, the post was captioned;
“This is the picture of the man who leaked our video. He is my lover whom I trusted. A Nigerian Official, by name Douye Diri.
“I trusted him with my life, but he betrayed me. Please share for the whole world to know the kind of man he is.”
Many mediums reported the post, leading to an outcry of foul play and a defamation attempt at Governor Diri.

A deep dive into the account revealed that the said account was created on Thursday November 10, 2022, the same day Sifuba’s scandalous tape made waves.
The account also had no meaningful content, a clear abnormality for a profile alleged to be that of a prominent individual such as Zanele Sifuba.
