A man who gave his name as Daniel (Surnamewithweld) who said he was kidnapped and raped by eight men in Oyigbo axis of Rivers on April 27th, 2024(last year) has written to Inspector General of Police,IGP Kayode Egberokun, Commissioner of Police, Rivers State accusing two officers, Mr Martins and Mr Udom of Anti-Kidnapping unit of the Rivers Police Command of arraigning the prime suspect in the case for assault instead of rape and kidnapping charges despite medical and other glaring evidence.
Mr Daniel, a fashion designer,said on that fateful day, he was lured to Oyigbo by the prime suspect, Ikechukwu on pretence of giving him(Daniel) a job.
He stated that when he arrived at Oyigbo,the prime suspect, Ikechukwu under the guise of taking him(Daniel) to the person he will make the Job quotation for,took him to a room where he met seven other men and two ladies.
Mr Daniel revealed that he was raped severally by Ikechukwu and the other seven males who also raped the two female kidnapped victims.
“I was in their custody for almost two days.I was raped by the eight men.They were also putting their manhood in my mouth until they ejaculate.They also raped the two ladies.
“I did all the tracking till the Prime suspect was arrested by Elekahia Police Division in the area.The arrested suspect was transferred to Anti-kidnapping unit on directives of the Commissioner of Police in Rivers state then.
“I provided the account details which the suspects collected ransom from me and my family.They collected over one million naira from my friends and family.
“I was surprised that the Investigating Police Officer in the Anti-kidnapping unit arraigned the suspect Ikechukwu in court on lesser charge of assault instead of rape,kidnap and blackmail even without informing me(complainant).
“It was my lawyer that tracked the case and found out what the IPO has done” Daniel said.
He disclosed that he is being trailed by unknown persons recently while demanding Justice on the matter.
Meanwhile a petition cited by our reporter which was written by Barrister Tom Charles Woke, Esq of Lawyers Watch for Justice International Initiative on behalf of the victim, to Inspector General of Police,copied to Commissioner of Police and Director of State Security Service in Rivers State, demanded re-arrest, proper investigation and re-arraignment of the prime suspect and other members of the gang.
The Rivers Police Command was yet to respond to enquiry by our reporter on the allegations made by the victim.
