In a twist of an event, Rivers state Crisis between the incumbent Governor Siminalaye Fubara and FCT minister may not abet soon as PDP upholds caretaker committee list which favours Wike
There are speculations suggesting that the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara may likely defect to another political party to secure his political career following the decision of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to respect the earlier list of Caretaker Committee members of the PDP in Rivers state, citing court order. Recall that the list has generated tension in the state as they were made up of the loyalists of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, forcing the incumbent Governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara to discard such as untrue and can’t stand.
However, in a statement on Tuesday, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said:-
The National Working Committee (NWC) at its emergency meeting today, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 reviewed the issue of the Caretaker Committee of River State.
After an extensive deliberation the NWC noted the existence of an Ex-Parte Order issued by the Federal High Court, Abuja restraining the NWC from further action with respect to the status of the Rivers State Caretaker Committee List as published.
However, while the Rivers State Caretaker Committee List as published stands in compliance with the Order of the Court, the NWC notes the concerted intervention and efforts of various Organs of the Party, particularly the PDP Governors’ Forum to finding a political solution to the issue of the River State Caretaker Committee.
The NWC therefore resolved to, in conjunction with the PDP Governors’ Forum, intensify action in the continuing consultation to resolving the issues of the Rivers State PDP Chapter amicably.
Signed:
Hon. Debo Ologunagba
