Delta State government official has confirmed the arrest of two social media personalities, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, known as Mr Jollof, after an altercation broke out between them during boarding at the Asaba International Airport.
Mr Ossai Success, the senior special assistant on media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, confirmed the arrest.
United Nigeria Airlines confirmed that VeryDarkMan, and Mr Jollof were deboarded and handed over to airport security.
In a statement titled “United Nigeria Airlines Statement On Passenger Altercation At Asaba International Airport,” the airline said the confrontation occurred while passengers were boarding Flight UN0523 on 17 November 2025.
According to the airline, “an altercation occurred between two passengers, identified as Martins Vincent Otse ‘VeryDarkman’ and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi ‘Mr. Jollof’, during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport.”
It added that in line with international safety rules, crew members acted immediately.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred during the boarding process of the commercial jet preparing for departure.
The confrontation reportedly escalated quickly, prompting airline officials and crew members to intervene.
Following the disturbance, both individuals were formally taken off the flight manifest pending further review by the airline and relevant authorities.
A video that quickly went viral showed VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof engaging in a physical fight while onboard.
Ossai noted that the incident took place on a United Nigerian Airlines flight from Asaba, Delta State, to Lagos.
Expressing his disapproval of their actions, he shared his thoughts on his Facebook page: “I saw VeryDarkMan collecting beating from Mr Jollof this morning at the Asaba International Airport. They have been unboarded and arrested. I am really disappointed in both of them for fighting inside an aircraft when they should have done that on the roadside. VDM nor get mind and e get talk carelessly. I am really disappointed. Note: This page does NOT support or encourage violence in any form.”
