Gunmen Attack Chinese Company In Abia State, Shot Driver, Security Operative De@d

Gunmen Suspected to be kidnappers launched a deadly attack early Saturday morning in Nunya, a community in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, leaving several feared dead.

According to eyewitness reports, the attackers—about six in number—arrived at the scene around 8:21 a.m., riding on three motorcycles. They were reportedly dressed in military camouflage and armed with assault rifles.

The gunmen stormed a construction site operated by a Chinese engineering company, opened fire on the workers, and killed one of the drivers. A security operative stationed at the site was also reportedly shot dead, and his rifle was taken by the attackers before they fled.

“The attackers looked like they had military training from the way they operated,” a source alleged, suggesting the incident may have been carried out by a notorious kidnapping gang suspected to have crossed over from a neighboring state.

Security operatives were said to have responded swiftly to the distress call and conducted a coordinated operation in the area. The body of the deceased driver was evacuated and deposited at a nearby hospital, while spent AK-47 shells were reportedly recovered from the scene.

Following a tip-off, a suspect with alleged links to the attack was reportedly arrested at a hideout and is currently undergoing interrogation. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects.

As of press time, there was no official statement from the Abia State Police Command. Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, were unsuccessful, and the Army spokesperson in the state also could not be reached for comments.

Security operations remain ongoing in the area as authorities intensify efforts to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
