On Wednesday, gunmen abducted and murdered the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Bako Bala.
A post on the official Facebook page of the Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor on Television and Radio, Alhaji Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa, reported that armed men kidnapped Bala in his hometown, shot him, and left him in a pool of blood.
Alhaji Bako Bala was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, where he tragically succumbed to his gunshot wounds later that day.
In a related incident, bandits reportedly kidnapped an individual in Matseri village, located within the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and shot a young man, who is now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.
Attempts to contact the Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for comments on these incidents were unsuccessful.
Kebbi State has recently experienced a string of kidnappings for ransom, despite ongoing efforts by security forces, supported by the state government, to dismantle criminal hideouts and rescue victims.
