How Security Agents Supervised Politicians To Steal People’s Mandate- Labour Party Rejects Guber, HOA Elections

The Labour Party in Rivers State has rejected the outcome of the governorship and State House of Assembly election conducted in the state, describing the exercise as a broad day robbery.

Governorship candidate of the party Mrs. Beatrice Itubo who led other party chieftains to address journalists in Port Harcourt alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies connived to thwart the will of the people.

Mrs. Itubo said the party is compiling evidences of all the electoral infractions and would approach the court for redress as soon as possible.

According to her, a town crier went round in many communities in the state warning intending voters not to come out for exercise unless they would vote in certain direction

In the same vein, the stirring committee chairman of the party, Mrs. Hilda Dokubo said the decision of the party to reject the result and approach the court was to ensure that the state is not ruled by illegality.

Some of the State Assembly candidates of the party, including Mr. Domgba Meshach from Eleme constituency, Mr. Oporo Eliot of Abual Odual constituency, and Mr. Chukwunonye Azuh of Oyigbo constituency condemned the manner in which the electoral materials were carted away and yet results were declared.

The party also condemned the role played by the security agencies, saying that most of the security officials were part of the electoral violence that took place during the election
