Identities Of Soldiers Killed In Delta Communal Clash Revealed As Okuama Community Burns

Nigerian Army has released names of 16 military men of 181 Amphibious Batallion, in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State who allegedly were murdered by community youths on Thursday.

The unfortunate incident occurred when the troops responded to a distress call after the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities both in Delta State.

Some of the slain heroes include Major Shafa, Major Obi, Captain Zakari, Lieutenant Colonel AH Ali.

Some other troops whose identities have not yet been revealed are among the soldiers.

Mercenaries and armed individuals from the neighborhood staged a surprise attack that caught the military off guard.

Numerous residences in the coastal and quaint Okuoma community, situated in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, were engulfed in flames shortly after the tragic loss of 16 soldiers on a peacekeeping mission.

Recall that the Director of Information at the Defence Headquarters, Tukur Gusau, in a statement on Saturday, said the military personnel comprising a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers were killed by youths on Thursday.

In a video posted by Channels Television, black smoke could be seen billowing from some buildings in the community, as flames flickered in the distance.

Some residents of the community have also fled for fear of reprisal attacks from military personnel. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori condemned the incident, promising to “fish out” the perpetrators.
