A youth organization, the Igbu-Akoh Youth Congress in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to redeem the pledge of one hundred million naira bounty placed on infamous gang leader David Gift aka 2Baba fingered in killing of Superintendent of Police(SP) Bako Angbashim, Division Police Officer(DPO) of Ahoada Police Division .
A statement on Wednesday,20 March 2024 signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Youth body, Comrade Hector Ekeakita which was titled
An Appeal To Rivers State Governor To Redeem Pledge Of 100 Million Naira Bounty Placed On Infamous Gang Leader David Gift aka 2Baba Responsible For The Death Of Ahoada DPO, SP Bako Angbashim’ observed that the Rivers State Governor has not made any pronouncement on the one hundred million naira bounty placed on David Gift over three weeks his corpse was discovered and retrieved by the Police in a forest in Ebrass, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State a week after the cult leader was killed in an encounter with the Police.
The statement read “while commending the Governor for his support to the Police and other security agencies in bringing down the cult leader, David Gift and his unwavering commitment to ensure lasting peace in Ahoada East LGA, it is our view that His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara should redeem the pledge in record time so that it will not be perceived by observers as one of those unfulfilled campaign promises made by some Politicians who lack integrity to win the heart of electorates when seeking elective positions.
“It is our firm believe that His Excellency will keep to his word in redeeming the pledge of 100 million naira bounty He placed on the gang leader David Gift.
“We also urge the Rivers State Government to provide adequate succour to the next of kiln/immediate family of SP Bako Angbashim in recognition and appreciation of immense contribution of the killed DPO in crime reduction and eradication in the state.
“Finally, we urge the Police and other relevant security agencies not to relent in going after sponsors of cultism and other violent crimes in Ahoada East LGA”.
Recall that Governor Fubara placed one hundred million naira bounty on the cult kingpin on September 9th,2023 during an emergency State Security Council meeting a day after SP Bako was killed by David Gift and his gang.
