The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has been declared winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday.
Soludo who is the incumbent governor defeated 15 other candidates with overwhelming votes scored across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Soludo recorded strong performances across all the LGAs by maintaining a wide margin ahead of his closest rival, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Nicholas Ukachukwu.
The election held in 5,720 polling units, saw APGA consolidate its dominance as Soludo swept major strongholds and outpaced other contenders at both rural and urban centres.
Ukachukwu emerged as Soludo’s nearest challenger, finishing second after polling significant votes but falling short of the requited numbers to unseat the incumbent.
While Soludo polled a total of 422,664 votes, Ukachukwu of APC garnered 99,445 votes.
This means that Professor Chukwuma Soludo is back to pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years, baring any further issues of contention
