Israel Begins Ground Offensive in Lebanon

Israeli forces have initiated a ground invasion into southern Lebanon, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing cross-border conflict. The operation follows intensified aerial bombardments and rising tensions along the frontier, with military officials stating the objective is to target militant infrastructure and neutralize security threats.

Lebanese authorities have reported clashes in multiple المناطق near the border, while international leaders urge restraint amid fears of a broader regional war.

An Insight into the Humanitarian Crisis Emerging from Israel’s Operation
Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon marks a significant escalation in a conflict which has now engulfed almost the whole region.

The big question is – after Hezbollah decided to join he fight against Israel by attacking on Sunday night – how deep will the IDF push and how long will they stay?

Morally, Israel claims the right to advance as far as it needs, under the post-Oct 7 doctrine whereby terror threats are no long allowed to build up on its borders.

But only a very few think that marching into Beirut – where Hezbollah’s top brass are based – is a sound strategy, or even taking over large swathes of the south.

Israel Katz, the defence minister, said the operation was intended to prevent the possibility of “direct fire” on Israeli communities, indicating a more limited operation within a few miles of the border.
