Join APC or Resign! Akwa-Ibom Governor’s Youth SSA Reportedly Resigns

Governor Umo Eno’s decision to switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) faced resistance from one of his close aides last weekend.

The aide rejected the governor’s instruction to follow him into the new party, choosing instead to resign his post.

Governor Eno announced his plan to leave the PDP for the APC during an event in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, earlier this week.

He instructed all his political appointees to either move with him to the APC or step down from their positions if they did not want to switch parties.

The governor was originally elected under the PDP platform.

However, Edidem Monday Itoro, the Special Assistant on Digital Youth Mobilization, refused to obey the order to defect.

He sent a resignation letter through a commissioner, saying he preferred to stay loyal to the PDP rather than betray the party that gave him the appointment.

Itoro’s letter, written in a casual, local pidgin style, explained his reasons for leaving.

He expressed his unwillingness to join the APC, mentioning that he would rather focus on his personal business.

He also described feeling forced to leave without proper respect for his work or office items.

So far, no other aides have publicly responded to Governor Eno’s directive to join APC or resign.Akwa-Ibom governor’s aide reportedly resigns
