His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON has set up a Committee to immediately investigate the fire outbreak in a part of the Governor’s office, (Muhammadu Buhari House).
The inferno which occurred today has damaged the Mini Chamber attached to the Governor’s office.
Firefighters from both Federal and State were able to control the fire before it escalates to other parts of the office.
The source of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
However, the Committee is tasked with the following terms of reference:
1. Find out the cause of the fire outbreak
2. Extent of the damage caused by the inferno
3. Identify lapses (if) any that led to the incident
4. Recommend ways to avert future occurrence
5. Give any other recommendation that is essential in the circumstances.
The Committee is given the mandate to co-opt any person( s) that could help in discharging its assignment and to submit within a r week it’s report.
The Committee is composed of the following members:
1. The Head of Civil Service of the State
2. The Honorable Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport
3. The Honorable Commissioner for Budget and Planning
4. The Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice
5. The Honorable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs
6. The Honorable Commissioner for Information and Culture
7. The Permanent Secretary I, Government House
8. The State Commander, Federal Fire Service
9. The Governor’s Office will provide the secretary of the Committee.
The Governor has expressed confidence in the Committee’s ability to thoroughly investigate the incident and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
