Kenyan President Fires Back At Tinubu Mocks Nigerians As Poor English Speakers

The president of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto has taken a dig at Nigerians in response to Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier demeaning remark about the Kenyans.

Recall that a few days ago, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his official visit to Bayelsa state, enjoined Nigerians to count their blessings, drawing comparison between Nigeria and Kenya. Tinubu pointed that the standard of living in Nigeria is far better than in Kenya where fuel costs more and Kenyans grappling with economic hardship.

However, a video of president Ruto speaking recently has caused so much buzz online–the Kenyan president appraised the Kenyan education system and their English language. According to him, Kenyans speak “some of the best English in the world”.

He added that unlike Kenyans, Nigerians’ English is poor.

The Kenyan president also drew comparing between his country’s human capital development and that of other countries including Nigeria.

You know, our education is good. Our English is good. Yes. We speak some of the best English in the world.

That is true. If you listen to a Nigerian speaking,

You don’t know. You need a translator, even when they are speaking English, am I?

So, we have some of the best human capital development anywhere in the world, and we just need to sharpen it with more training”, he stated
