Lagos Govt Dislodge Hoodlum, Reclaims Obalende Under-Bridge With MTN-Backed Y’ELLO Bus Park to Replace Crime-Ridden Space

The Lagos State Government, in partnership with MTN Nigeria, has commenced the redevelopment of the Obalende under-bridge into a modern transport terminal to be known as Y’ELLO Bus Park.

The project will transform the once-degraded area into a secure, organised, and community-focused transport hub featuring a regulated bus terminal, recycling drop-off station, LAWMA road camp, security posts, over 60 public toilet facilities, kiosks, and other commuter-friendly amenities.

Designed with safety, sustainability, and aesthetics in mind, the new hub will be powered by solar lighting to enhance visibility, strengthen CCTV coverage, and curb criminal activities. A biodigester system will manage wastewater efficiently, while a dedicated recycling station will discourage illegal dumping.

The redevelopment also aligns with Lagos’ climate goals, with solar panels for energy efficiency and tree planting to improve air quality and beautify the environment.

According to the state government, the project underscores its commitment to reclaiming public spaces and delivering cleaner, safer, and more resilient infrastructure for Lagosians.
