Lagos Govt Resumes Demolition of Illegal Shops at Idumota Pedestrian Bridge

The Lagos State Government has resumed the demolition of illegal shops attached to the pedestrian bridge in the Idumota area as part of efforts to restore order and ensure pedestrian safety .

The operation, which is being carried out jointly by the Office of the Drainage Services and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), was disclosed in a video shared by Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, on Monday, March 10.

The caption accompanying the video read:
“In a joint operation between the operatives from the Office of the Drainage Services and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, we have resumed the clearance operation in Idumota, removing illegal shops attached to the pedestrian bridge.”

The demolition exercise comes amid the state government’s efforts to enforce urban planning laws and prevent illegal structures from obstructing public spaces.

Residents and traders in the area have been urged to comply with environmental regulations to avoid penalties, as authorities continue their crackdown on illegal constructions across the state.
