Many Trapped, Several Others Injured As Four Storey Building Collapses In Ojodu-Berger Area Of Lagos

A four-storey building has collapsed in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State, leaving several people trapped under the rubble.

There are fears that some may have lost their lives in the incident.multi-storey structure located on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger axis of Lagos State collapsed on Saturday morning, trapping an unspecified number of people beneath the debris.

According to eyewitness accounts, the collapse occurred at approximately 8 am, catching occupants and passersby by surprise.

An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen from on the grounds of anonymity said the cause of the collapse was yet to be ascertained, but admitted that the building was a “Bomb waiting to explode.”

“Anyone who knows that building should know that it was a bomb waiting to explode. I hardly go there to buy food because I was always scared the building would collapse while I’m there.

“Right now, we cannot ascertain how many people are trapped under the rubbles, but emergency responders have begun rescue operations”, the source said.

The source, however, confirmed that operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency have arrived at the location and have begun rescue operations while they await other government agencies.

As the rescue efforts continue, concerned residents and onlookers have gathered at the scene, anxiously awaiting updates on the fate of those trapped inside.
