Multiple Protest Rocks Rivers University As Students Not Allowed To Write Exams Over School Fees Protest To Govt House, Seeks Reversals Of Policy

Students from the Rivers State University (RSU) today embark on a peaceful protest against the #nofeesnoexaminrsu policy as they are being blocked by the by the Nigerian police from getting close to the Brick house gate  in Port Harcourt

While some are protesting at RSU GATE on Ikwerre Road, others took buses to seat of power, especially the Final Year Students Of Rivers State University That Weren’t Allowed To Write Their Examination Over ‘No school fees; no exam policy’ No description available.

You would recall that on Monday, Hundreds of final year students among others students of the University, were stranded  as they were shutout from taking their second semester Examinations with the commencement of “No Fees, No Examination’ policy of the institution.

Some of the students were seen standing outside the halls lamenting their fate as they watched their fellow students write their examinations.

Speaking to newsmen outside the exams hall they said they had pleaded with the University management to allow them write their final year examinations because there was no way they can get their clearance and enroll for the National Youth Service Corps ,NYSC, without paying their fees.

Another final student pointed: “We are standing outside because we were not allowed to write our final year Examinations. We pleaded with them to allow us because we’ll still come back in a few weeks time for our clearance. This is an automatic carry over to next year. It’s going to be double punishment, because we’ll pay for this whole year fees and also pay for next year’s school fees and carry over our course”.

Another final student said: “We pleaded that they should allow us because of the prevailing hardships in the country but they refused.” The University management had announced a ‘No school fees, no exams’ policy on October 14, and shifted the Examinations for one week to enable students settle their fees.

But investigations showed that students in their thousands are yet to pay school fees or register for their courses. With the new policy.

This new policy has been met with a backlash from students who have taken to the social media to criticize it.
