Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of the ruling SWAPO party has been elected president of Namibia with 57.31% of the vote, the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) reported.
Out of a total of 21 political parties that contested the parliamentary elections, the SWAPO party won 51 seats out of 96 elected on party lists in the National Assembly, the ECN noted in a report.
The presidential and National Assembly (the lower chamber of Namibia’s parliament) elections were held in Namibia on November 27.
