A young Nigerian woman based in Canada, Arike Ariyo, has sparked conversations online after publicly appreciating her husband’s girlfriends for their support and positive impact on her family.
In a candid TikTok video, Arike reflected on the things she missed about life in Nigeria, including her driver, car washman, and pepper vendor, but what stood out most was her unexpected gratitude for the women involved with her husband.
Arike described the girlfriends as women of “good standing” who have shown her kindness in different ways. She recalled how they supported her during tough times, including when she was struggling to clothe her children. According to her, they often sent high-quality imported clothes to her kids, easing her burden.
She also mentioned how the women played a vital role during her mother-in-law’s burial, noting their generosity and active presence in her family. Even in her absence, while she resides in Canada, she said her husband’s girlfriends take good care of her husband.
“May God not put asunder between my husband and his girlfriends. Imagine I had been selfish. Don’t be stingy. Leave your husband, let him enjoy himself, you will be the one to enjoy the most,” Arike declared.
