A Nigerian man has admitted murdering 23-year-old Stephanie Irons, a former colleague with whom he had a brief relationship, in a horrifying incident that has shaken the local community.
Stephanie’s body was discovered on 21 October 2025 at her home on Westdale Lane West, Mapperley. Police described her as “a caring and compassionate young woman” whose life was cruelly cut short.
Adedapo Adegbola, 40, a Nigerian national who relocated to the UK in 2022 and residing on Woodborough Road, Mapperley, pleaded guilty to a single charge of murder during a brief appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, 26 January. He is due to be sentenced on 5 February.
Judge Nirmal Shant KC told Adegbola he faced a mandatory life sentence, stating that the only remaining issue is determining the minimum term he must serve.
