Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has declared that the welfare of Rivers people remains the primary concern of his administration to ensuring that they are comfortable.
Governor Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday at the official commissioning of the 21.4 kilometers Egbeda Internal roads constructed by his administration.
The governor stated that there is nothing wrong in building roads or in making promises to develop an area, but that it is important to do so to the satisfaction of the people, adding that what his government has done for the Egbeda people is to solve the perennial flooding problem in the community with the construction of the internal roads.
He commended the people for their cooperation with the contractor and support that resulted in the completion of the project on record time.
Governor Fubara further approved the extension and completion of the Egbeda-Omerelu road and promised to also upgrade the Community Secondary School in order to provide the needed environment for conducive and quality learning, stressing that he will further consult on the traditional stool before any decision is taken. He also appreciated the community for the gift of land and assured that his administration will decide on an appropriate project for the site.
“I thank the community for the 200 plots of land. I am accepting it not because you’re compelling me to, but as a gift from a community that has shown appreciation to what we are doing.”
The governor thanked the traditional rulers in the state that have identified with his administration and enjoined them not to be scared but to remain firm as his government will continue to give them the needed protection and support
Sir Fubara noted that he began confronting real governance in February and has been able to provide tangible democratic dividends within the short time and that the people are happy with the performance of his administration.
Speaking as the Special Guest of honour before commissioning the internal roads, the Delta State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori applauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for providing quality leadership and driving infrastructural development across the state.
He pledged the support of his administration and the good people of Delta State to Governor Siminalayi Fubara in his determination to ensuring peace and development in Rivers State, noting that the States of the Niger Delta are enjoying a great relationship as one region bound by its heritage, rich resources and commitment to life touching projects to the people.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr. Atemea Briggs thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for putting the interest of the people first in all his considerations, saying that the value for the 21.4kilometers internal roads has been fully paid.
Chairman and CEO of Monier Construction Limited (MCC) Senator John Mbata in his speech thanked Governor Fubara for giving MCC the opportunity to be part of development of critical infrastructure in the state, adding that the Egbeda internal road project signifies Governor Fubara’s love for the people as it will tackle the major challenge of flooding faced by the community
On his part, a community leader, Hon. Emmanuel Omah commended the governor for opening up Egbeda community with the internal roads and assured him of their continuous support.
He further announced a gift of 200 plots of land covered with deeds of conveyance to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for remembering the community with the construction of its internal roads.
