PDP Mbaitoli LGA Condemns Law Maker Choice Of POS Machines As Empowerment

Calls for True Representation and Sustainable Development

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mbaitoli LGA Chapter has observed with keen interest the recent publicity surrounding the so-called “Women Empowerment Program” by Mbaitoli house of Assembly member; Hon. Engr. Ikpamezie Innocent, which centers on distributing POS machines and startup kits to selected women in our communities.
While we commend any effort aimed at supporting our hardworking women and youths, we must state categorically that this approach falls far short of what true representation should deliver for the good people of Mbaitoli.

Superficial Empowerment Cannot Replace Critical Development. Mbaitoli LGA today faces urgent and undeniable challenges that demand bold, people-centered leadership:
Our roads are in deplorable condition, cutting off entire communities, stifling commerce, and endangering lives.
Many of our health centres lack basic equipment, drugs, and qualified staff, forcing families to travel far for primary healthcare., Access to clean water remains a struggle for countless households., Schools are dilapidated, under-resourced, and overcrowded.
Youth unemployment is on the rise, yet vocational and technical training opportunities remain scarce.

No amount of POS machines can fix a bad road. No POS terminal can treat a sick child in an ill-equipped health centre. And no retail kiosk can replace a functional school or borehole.

The PDP Mbaitoli notes that the POS retail space is already oversaturated. Many young people who venture into it abandon the business within months due to poor cash flow, insecurity, unstable profit, and lack of genuine support. If the current administration truly wants to empower our people economically, it must think bigger and act better. Piecemeal handouts cannot substitute for real investments in roads, healthcare, education, water, and security, which are the true enablers of sustainable business and community growth.

What True Representation Demands:
Good roads to connect our farmers and traders to markets, Well-equipped hospitals and primary health centres in every ward, Functional schools that can shape the next generation, Skills acquisition centres to train our youths for viable trades, Community cooperatives and micro-industries that will empower thousands, not just dozens, These are the pillars of genuine empowerment. This is what our people deserve. This is what our mandate stands for.

The Mbaitoli PDP calls on Hon. Ikpamezie Innocent and all public office holders to focus on sustainable development and responsible stewardship of public resources. We challenge the current administration to channel energy and funds towards repairing or attracting roads projects, revitalizing our health facilities, upgrading our schools, and building the foundations for a truly productive local economy.
Anything short of this is political tokenism and an insult to the collective intelligence and aspirations of the resilient people of Mbaitoli LGA.

Mbaitoli PDP calls members of goodwill to urgently join in the callout of our representatives for better delivery of their duties.

May Mbaitoli Overcome.
