Peter Obi Storms home State To Campaign for Labour Party Governorship Candidate

Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has returned to his home state to campaign for the party’s governorship candidate, George Moghalu, ahead of the November 2025 gubernatorial election. Obi, who was warmly received by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, used the campaign event to reaffirm his commitment to the Labour Party and formally declare his intention to run for the presidency again in 2027.

Addressing supporters in the Igbo language, Obi dismissed rumours of his exit from the party, stressing that he remains a loyal and active member of the Labour Party. “I have not left the Labour Party. I am still here, and I am committed to our collective vision,” Obi said. He also took the opportunity to position himself as the most qualified among those likely to vie for the presidency in the next general election.

“Others have the right to contest. I have not told anyone not to run. But if anyone asks you, tell them I am running, and I am the most competent among all,” he declared to thunderous applause.
