Police Arrest 42 Yr Old Man For Belonging To One Chance Robbery Syndicate

The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested a 42-year-old man, Ifeanyi-Chukwu Wobodo, for allegedly belonging to a “one-chance” crime syndicate.

The Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, says the suspect was arrested by officers from the Elekahia Police Division. She stated that Wobodo allegedly confessed that he and other gang members usually travel from other states to Rivers State to carry out their crimes. According to her, the suspect admitted that the group robs unsuspecting passengers after they board their taxi.
One of the victims, identified as Success, recounted how she was robbed of her bag after boarding a taxi from Nkpogu to Rumuomasi. Our correspondent reports that the suspect, Wobodo, also gave his account.

In a video posted by Richman Jogwe,the unit leader of the Vigilante group at Access bank axis of Ikwerre road/Ada George,Mile 3 Diobu, PortHarcourt,the suspect Christian Godwin said the female victim entered their vehicle at pepperoni junction in Ada George and they were about taking her to where they would disposses the victim of her valuables when she raised alarm and people started chasing them.

Mr Godwin in the video while responding to question from the Vigilante unit leader mentioned three of his accomplice who escaped on that fateful day.

The Vigilante unit leader,Mr Jogwe in the video narrated how they apprehended the suspect after the members of the ‘One Chance’ robbery syndicate pushed the female victim out of the speeding vehicle.

The issue of ‘One Chance’ robbery has become a menace in Portharcourt in recent times with Police intensifying efforts to curtail the the crime.
